Safety is everyone’s responsibility. At CERN, pressure equipment such as vessels, piping and safety accessories is essential for both industrial and experimental activities. However, these systems also pose risks due to the energy they contain and the chemical hazards posed by their contents.

Following extensive audits by the French national organisation for standardisation (AFNOR) at the end of 2025, CERN’s ISO 50001 certification has been renewed for another three years, until 1 February 2029.
